Sexing Polish chicks

 

Polish chicks can be sexed fairly accurately by crest shape at hatching

Adult Polish can be easily distinguished by their crest shape.  Female crests are round and globular, male crests are long and tapered.

You can use these same characteristics to identify sex of chicks at hatching.  This method is much harder to use when chick fuzz is replaced by feathers, so don’t wait too long!
